Shasha Mobile Storytelling Workshop is a practical and intensive workshop that equips you with a comprehensive skill set to understand the story you want to tell, structure it, specify your visual decisions accordingly and troubleshoot for solutions. Everyone walks around with phones, carrying technology that’s rapidly upgraded. This is about how to get the most of this technology by having a well-crafted story to tell. This workshop shall differentiate between recording with your phone and filming with it. You will be exposed to how to shape your idea and structure your story, defining the film premise, and writing your log-line and abiding by your film genre. Also, the importance of knowing the character status and the power of the subtext in directing the actors and the scenes and using the story beats in the three production stages. You’ll also explore film semiotics and how to avoid bad exposition. Moreover, you’ll learn how to visualize your story and block your scene according to your wants and your intuition. The workshop includes in-class practical exercises and scenes analysis. Every day you will be asked to watch some videos back home to be discussed on the next day. During the workshop, participants will be able to develop their film ideas and apply all of the above to their stories. By the end of the workshop, filmmakers will be divided into groups and start shooting and producing their projects under a very tight schedule. All the workshop films will compete in SHASHA Mobile film festival under a special section for the workshop graduates.
